This 177’ refinery process tower was coated with 80 mils (2 mm) of ceramic insulation coating for heat retention and personnel protection on its 220 Fahrenheit surface temperature. The project took place during wintertime’s 38 Fahrenheit ambient temperatures in an enclosed shelter with the aid of heated air. Application required 3 days for the 4 coats that included 1 coat of tinted insulation coating with a 4 man crew consisting of 2 spray applicators and 2 support staff feeding pumps and tending hoses.
